Year 3 Inquiry Unit
This term Year 3 will be investigating the big question, “Why do we celebrate?”
Through this unit we will explore the significance of celebrations and commemorations around the world. They will discuss how people or communities keep celebrations, commemoration, and traditions alive and the role that people of diverse backgrounds have played in the development and character of the local community and/or other societies.
As a provocation for this unit the year 3 teachers sent home a save the date card and on the first day of term facilitated a welcome back to school party. Students were treated to snacks, a dance party, balloon games and a photo booth. Students mixed with friends from other classes, shared conversations and created new games to play together. After the party children described feeling happy and connected to their peers.
We are all looking forward to learning more about celebrations and traditions from around the world.
