ANZAC Day

Lest We Forget

All year 6 students were asked to attend the Melton Dawn Service at Melton War Memorial, High Street on ANZAC Day 2023. Our school was honoured to be allowed to select four individuals to plant a wreath. Rylea, Grace, Oliver, and Jacob were the chosen persons, and they were overjoyed to be a part of this memorable day. Everyone was moved by the sacrifices made by earlier and current troops who fought for our country. The soldiers arrived in full uniform, complete with badges and decorations. Everyone paid their respects to all family members who battled in the past. The soldiers marched, took their posts, and made no facial expressions. Soldiers stood in front of the memorial stone tower as children from the Melton district lay wreaths. Our students moved back and bowed to the soldiers when our school placed our wreath around the stone memorial tower. Our students were dressed in their full school uniform to reprecent St Anthony’s Primary School. Many people were wearing medals and badges from their great-grandparents, fathers, and possibly great-grandmothers and mothers who fought in Gallipoli.
