In the Classroom
St Anthony’s Primary School began a language journey in Term 2 this year with Auslan (Australian sign language). The students and teachers are learning side by side about the language and culture of the deaf community.
There are some key points to remember when learning and signing in Auslan. Eye contact and facial expressions are essential when communicating. Eye contact shows who we are signing to and facial expression shows politeness and emotions. Please find below some more greetings and responses learnt during our sessions.
We invite you to learn and practise with your child at home with some of the signs they have already learnt.
Thanks to MyAuslan for this resource.
