International Day of Mathematics
Last Tuesday, 14th March, the students and staff at St Anthony’s celebrated mathematics along with all other nations across the globe. Students and staff were invited to play math games in Padua Hall at recess time. Students of all ages worked together to solve puzzles, build 3D creations and make patterns through playing games.
At both recess and lunch time we ran a “Guess the lollies in the jar” competition. There were 3 jars, one for our F/1/2 students, one for our 3/4 students and another for our 5/6 students. The students had fun estimating and were all keen to guess the closest number of lollies/chocolates in the jar.
The competition winners were:
- 5/6 competition: Althea (5KL) and Sharnel (5CD)
- 3/4 competition: Zoe (3JN)
- F/1/2 competition: Patrick (FMG) (Patrick actually guessed the exact amount in the jar!!)
Many students reflected how fun it was to celebrate math at St Anthony’s and how they would love to do more days like this!! Many thanks go to the staff and year 6 leaders who helped out on the day and made the activities run so smoothly!
