Partners with St. Anthony’s P.S. in 2024
Last week, the Cyber Safety Project came out to visit our Year 4, 5 and 6 students. We were lucky enough to have Trent Ray, founder and Director of the Cyber Safety Project, come and discuss digital wellbeing with our students. Some of the key concepts Trent discussed included;
- It is important to be an upstander when things go wrong
- That it only takes six pieces of personal information for someone to steal your identity
- How to safeguard your personal information
- That 1 in 3 students have posted a photo online with their school uniform
- 36% of online content on social media is hurtful or inappropriate
- Cyberbullying is against the law
- Students can seek help in a variety of ways; speaking to a trusted adult or accessing Kids Helpline or the eSafety Commissioner
Trent also ran a session with our Student Leaders and they collaborated on ways they can be upstanders within our community. Finally, Trent led professional development with our staff in the afternoon. Teachers were able to learn more of what is happening in the digital space and were inspired to design learning to educate students.
As part of our commitment to child safety, St. Anthony’s will continue to work with the Cyber Safety Project to educate, inform and inspire our community to be active, responsible and positive in the digital world.
