What an amazing start to our Performing Arts program 2023!
We were very lucky in the first week of school to have Andy from Song Room take us through an amazing Dance experience. Students from Years 1, 3, 4, and 5 were invited to take part in vigorous dance exercises using body, action, space, timing, energy and trust relationships. Each session involved over 100 students pumping to Andy’s amazing choreography.
The Year 2 and 3 children will be involved in the Song Room Dance program each Thursday this term. The program aims to improve student learning outcomes and enhance school culture through Music and the Arts. The students will acquire new Arts knowledge and skills through sequential and curriculum aligned learning experiences. Arts Learning increases student participation and engagement in school life, and positively supports social and emotional learning.
The Song Room program aims to develop creative, courageous and compassionate young people by providing them with opportunities to imagine, communicate, collaborate and express their ideas and feelings through art making and responding.
Over a 12-month period, Song Room programs are shown to deliver:
- Reduced absenteeism by 65%
- Significant increases in social-emotional well-being, particularly increased confidence and self-esteem, collaborative skills, enthusiasm for learning and school belongingness
The Song Room team look forward to working with your school community to shape an Arts
Learning program from which all members of the school community can benefit.
