Year 2 Religious Education
During Religion in Term 2 this year, students were learning to be Stewards of Creation. To be a Steward of Creation, we must look after all of the lands and creatures that God created as explained in Pope Francis’ Encyclical Letter Laudato si’. We must do this to ensure that our world and all living things are sustainable for future generations.
As part of this unit, students wrote a letter to Pope Francis explaining how they are already being Stewards of Creation, and a further action that they could do at home or at school. Two students from each class were selected by the Year 2 teachers, and their letters were sent to the Vatican.
This term, we were very surprised to receive a reply from Monseñor Roberto Campisi, Assistant Secretary of the State of the Vatican. In the letter, it stated that His Holiness Pope Francis has received our letters, and was very thankful. Year 2 students and teachers were so excited by the reply and look forward to continuing our amazing work by looking after God’s Creation.
