Year 3
The Year 3’s have been learning about Jesus’ Commandment ‘Love One Another’ and how Mary MacKillop lived this in her life. Troubie Theatre Company visted our school on Wednesday 19th July to perform a play about the life of Mary MacKillop. The students had a wonderful time and loved being involved in the show.
Kelly was selling matches for money because his family was poor and had no money. In the 1800’s Mary Mackillop wanted to be a nun. When Kelly was selling the matches Mary MacKillop only had a shilling left and gave it to Kelly and said, “That was my last shilling and I was about to give it to the orphanage.” Then Kelly felt sad and gave it to her and her life was hard.
Young Mary MacKillop wanted to be a nun and help the other poor people.
The show was about Mary Mackillop when she was young. When I watched the show Mary MacKillop was helping people in need and she helped her family too. Mary also looked after poor young kids.
When I watched the show I saw how young Mary MacKillop’s life was and how she worked hard for her family.
Yesterday afternoon at school I watched a show about Mary MacKillop. It was a funny show. I went up and they made me the governor's son. I was shy when I went up. I learnt that Mary MacKillop became a saint early and she didn’t practice or do anything a saint would do before becoming a saint. She had a school where you don’t have to pay and everyone is treated nicely. She made a boy go to her school because he was selling fake matches and scamming is not good.
On Wednesday we watched a Mary Mackillop show in Padua Hall. I liked it because it told us interesting facts about Mary Mackillop. I learnt that Mary Mackillop liked helping the poor. Also Mary Mackillop became a sister and an Australian Saint.
On Wednesday the 19th of July, we saw a play about Mary Mackillop. We were able to see how she lived in the 1800’s. I liked their acting because it made the show perfect. I learnt what it was like to live in the 1800s and all the struggles Mary Mackillop went through.
